Actually not in theaters, but on TV on the UP network which used to be GMC... the same channel he was featured on in that program last year about the woman getting married,even tho she was battling cancer and the producers asked him to sing to her after running into him in the hotel lobby.

Anyway, no big screen this time :)

I asked David on facebook about the part and he said Jason will be playing The Surf Shop Owned. He also said "several" of Jason's songs would be featured.

Now moving on to the productions that is still here. The Perfect Summer welcomes American Idol’s Jason Castro to his first day on set! They will be at Aussie Island Surf Shop in Wrightsville Beach. Jason plays a laid back surf shop owner.

Also Dave Helfant, Jason's manager posted this on FB last night

In Wilmington, North Carolina, with Jason Castro getting ready for him to start shooting his very first movie called "The Perfect Summer" for GMC with Writer/Director/Producer Gary Wheeler. In this picture, Jason is hanging with Gary and John Chapman from Word Entertainment, who helped to put everything together. The Movie will air on GMC sometime in August, followed by a DVD release. And Jason's music will be featured in the Movie. Tomorrow, Jason shoots with Oscar Nominated Eric Roberts



ETA: I tried to post the pic, but for some reason posting pics just doesn't work for me anymore... hence no profile pic... don't know what the problem is but it's irritating... grrrrr

Surfer flick 'A Perfect Summer' to begin filming locally

A movie about a computer nerd who learns to surf to impress the hot girl next-door is gearing up for filming, and cast members, including the famed Eric Roberts, arrived in the Port City over the weekend.

"A Perfect Summer" is expected to shoot scenes in Wilmington, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach for about a month, according to extras casting agent Vanessa Neimeyer's Facebook page. Filmmakers will hire experienced surfers as background actors, the site says.

The movie, produced by Wilmington's Swirl Films and Level Path Productions, features actors Katie Garfield ("Where the Devil Hides") a Raleigh native, Adam Horner, an Aussie transplant, and Jason Castro, a finalist in the seventh season of "American Idol."

Wilmington resident Sydney Penny, who recently appeared in the locally filmed feature "Heart of the Country," also has been cast in the project, according to her website. Penny, known for her role as Julia Santos on the ABC soap opera "All My Children," has appeared in a slew of other films, including 1985's "Pale Rider."

So, Brenda (Crazydo) went to Jason's concert tonight in Oklahoma and she specifically asked him about the movie. He seemed a bit taken aback that anyone knew about it, but he did finally admit there was going to be a movie and he has a "small part" and his part in the filming is in two weeks. We don't know the director yet, but we do know that Eric Roberts (Julia Roberts brother) is going to be in it. I'll be sure to report back if I hear anything else.
