All day I have been trying to figure out how to get her there, but her surgery may be scheduled for that time also.

Wish we could do this.... Tell me about it!elebenty-one! So wish I could. Samcoll, if I could get to Detroit, I would so be there, but Gramma (Bless you, you are so sweet) is right, I am not able to drive at all right now, I don't have proper control of my arm, otherwise I would be so all over it!elebenty-one So far no surgery date either, this is frustrating the living daylights out of me I will have to keep my fingers crossed that Jason comes to Canada, there are some pretty big radio stations that have interviewed some pretty big names here, the only thing is I won't have so many Dreadhead friends to share it with. If I am meant to be there, it will work out

Sher - I'm sorry that you can't come! I guess that I got so excited that I didn't think it all the way through...sorry! The former co-worker that died was also my best friends uncle. He and I were both police officers in our smallish community. (about 25,000) He was a real stand up kind of guy. When I got hired, I was only one of two female officers of the 50-something officers. Many of those were not welcoming and helpful. Some were down right nasty...but not John. He was always kind and helpful and not just because he knew I was his niece's best friend, but just because he was that kind of guy. He was only 67 and died of pancreatic cancer. What a shame! He has daughters in their 30's and young grandchildren. Thanks for your kind words.

Samcoll, that is so awful, sorry to derail this thread, we have a family friend that has been diagnosed with that, just found out today. Such a horrible thing. I didn't realize you were an officer, I work for the local police here, I admire what you went through and did!!! We have so many female officers now, I don't know how the guys treat them as we see another side of them, they have to be nice to us ;D Some are genuinely good guys though, they are a gem amidst the rough!!! Do not apologize for anything, you didn't misread anything, I wasn't specific, I am really sad I can't go!!! Maybe if I concentrate hard enough I can beam myself there ;D

It seems like that was a life time ago...pre-kids. I really enjoyed the work most of the time. Sometimes it was rather frustrating...before my report had been turned in regarding an arrest, the person would be on their way out the front door. It also seemed somedays like I arrested the same people over and over again...as I said it is a smallish community! I hope that I paved the way for the females that work at that department now. I still think that there are only a few. I met my husband on a blind date through someone I met at the department. It was meant to be!!
What do you do at the police department? Dispatch?

I work in Central Records, I hear what you say, it is a constant frustration, and even though are town is fairly large, you see the same names over and over, I feel bad for the officers that put so much time and effort into it so these people can be sent on their way. I am sure you helped pave a good road for the the female officers in there today!!! HUgs!!! Okay, sorry for the I will now let you get back to your scheduled programming ;D

Mouse, I am planning on calling next week to see if they have any more information. No one seems to be very informed, so I am hoping that by giving them a little more time, they will at least be able to let me know who is planning the event.
