Hey y'all, just getting around to checking in...i have the entire concert on video, i am currently uploading the vids, but probably won't finish until later on today (it's 1:45 here in Texas and i'm really sleepy), you can check my youtube (www.youtube/clayluver1), once they all upload i will post them here all at once! The concert was amazing!!! Jason did 14 songs, setlist: 1.Heart of Stone 2.This Heart of Mine 3.Love Uncompromised 4."Let's Just Fall in Love Again" 5.IMTM 6."You Can Always Come Home" 7.SOTR 8.Changing Colors 9.That's What I'm Here For 10.Sweet Medicine 11.If I Were You 12.All Wrapped Up 13.Closer 14.Hallelujah
And for those interested, i asked Jordan why "It's Alright" is not on the album, he said that it was just too slow of a beat/song, they already have enough slow ones.

Thurday, March 11, 2010... dawns bright and clear... the warmth of the sun as I step out on my porch promises spring... I breathe it in with an added air of excitement... Today, I am going to Tulsa to see Jason... What can go wrong?
Shall I list them 1, 2, 3? Or should I just do a running narrative?
Okay, I'll just start and go with the flow.
It's about a 5 or 5 1/2 hour drive from Tyler to Tulsa and I'd like to get there with time to relax a bit and refresh. So I figure if I leave at noon I'll get there around five. Sounds like a plan, eh?
Then I remember I need an oil change. Run over to WalMart and line it up and decide to get a few things while I'm waiting... Who knew it was going to take an hour?
Okay, then. One o'clock, not too bad. I'll get there at six. Still time to eat and make it to Flytrap by seven when the doors open.
Then a friendly off-duty policeman in the WalMart parking lot points out that my auto registration expired in February and if I don't want a costly ticket, I better take care of that. So I go to the County Tax Assessor's office to purchase my registration sticker ... and THE LINE IS ALL THE WAY AROUND THE BUILDING... TWICE... (well, I might be exaggerating a bit but it WAS long).
So now it's TWO O'CLOCK, and I can kiss good-bye to eating a nice relaxing meal before the show, but I'll get there about the time the doors open.
I get on the road. The trip is up U.S. Hwy 271 and it goes through a lot of little towns. I'm halfway between the first little town out of Tyler and the second little town (about 40 miles from Tyler) and I notice my car is overheating. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? WHY?!?!?!??! TODAY OF ALL DAYS?!?!?!?!?!?
Sigh... I pull in to a station that just happens to have a little garage with a guy who dressed like my Daddy (my daddy was a mechanic, too). He looks under my hood and says "You got a bum hose. Shouldn't be too hard to replace." (I'm thinking $$$$$ and GAH! HOW MUCH TIME IS THIS GONNA TAKE?) He says he thinks he can just fix the one on there, and I cross my fingers and toes, because that shouldn't take too much time... but NOOOOOOO. The leak is in a place that can't be "fixed"... But his son is in town getting some stuff, so he calls and has him go by an auto parts place to get the hose we need. Surely his son will zip right home and bring me my much needed car part pronto? Sigh... nope. It take over an hour... OVER AN HOUR... But the good side of this is that from that point on it was a pretty quick fix... and... this mechanic is an absolute angel. I'm sure he was channeling my Dad because he did exactly what my Dad would have done. He charged me the cost of the part... under $20 bucks and not one cent for labor. I love small towns... and small town mechanics.
But this puts us at a little after FIVE o'clock. I'm shaking my head and thinking I need to just head back to Tyler. I won't even make it to Tulsa until ten or after... GAH!!!
That's when my buddy Stephen Kanicka comes to the rescue. Just as I'm about to get in the car and dejectedly head back home, I get this tweet on my phone... Playing the Flytrap Music Hall in Tulsa tonight. We go on at 10:45. It will be fun I promise.
Ten forty-five? I can make it by 10:45, can't I? And with a resurgence of hope, I get it and turn RIGHT for Tulsa, not LEFT for Tyler. Whoop! I'm on my way.
to be continued...

The Saga of Tulsa, Part Deaux Well, now where was I? Oh, yeah! Somewhere in between Gladewater and Gilmer Texas and turning RIGHT to make a mad dash to Tulsa to see and hear Jason and THE BAND in concert. I was determined now to complete my mission, because not only was my own personal enjoyment at stake, but I had also undertaken the task of delivering a special drawing to him and Mandy. This drawing had been sent to me by wvapeachez. I had assured her that I would be able to deliver it, no problem. And I was determined to deliver it, regardless of any problems. So, I turned right and began the race against the clock. My goal was simple... Make it to Tulsa in one piece, on time, no speeding tickets. And, voila! I did it. The elements were still conspiring, tho. It wasn't all smooth sailing. Thirty minutes into Oklahoma, it began to rain steadily. I don't mind driving at night... piece of cake. I don't mind driving in the rain in the daytime... no problemo. Driving at night in the rain? Eeek. But I was gripped firmly by grim determination. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night was gonna keep my from my appointed rendezvous with Mr. Jason Castro. So I drove like the veritable bat out of hell, all the while hoping that Mr. Stephen Kanicka hadn't steered me wrong. At the first toll booth I asked how much longer to Tulsa. "Two hours" I was told. I glance at my watch ... 8:30! I ask what the speed limit is on the turnpike. "75 mph" ... "but watch out for the deer" Ack! I gotta drive like a bat out of hell AND watch for deer in the pitch black rainy night??? Oh, help. Okay, so to shorten this a bit, I zoom through the night and just beyond the last toll booth, about 40 minutes out of Tulsa, I pull over to check my tweets and call to make sure of the exit I need to take. I see the tweet from Dave about eating dinner prior to Jason's set. I send Jason a tweet, "Eat s-l-o-w ... I'm still 45 min away!!" Dunno if he got it or not, but I wasn't gonna wait around. I put the pedal to the medal (I've always wanted to use that phrase ) and at 10:40, I take the 7th street exit into downtown Tulsa. Now I've been to Tulsa twice, and to Flytrap once, but someone was praying for me, and I find Flytrap like my brain had transformed into a GPS. I park right across the street and when I open my door, I hear Jason singing... Heart of Stone. I practically run across the street and breathlessly ask at the box office. "How many songs?" and hear the sweet reply "This is his first!" I heave a sigh of relief and enter the stage area, and look around for my DH buddies. I'm here!! I can hardly believe it!! Stay tuned for the next installment: The Concert and The Answer to Everyone's Question... was it worth it?(you know the answer, but I'm gonna give ya the details)

It was an awesome show and good to see Jason playing with the band again. The sound sytem wasn't that great tho and the place was too dark so was hard to get good videos or pics Was really nice to see many of you there. Had fun rooming with Becky too. So glad she finally made it to the show and just in time Here's a couple videos: Beautiful perf of Sweet Medicine. Song is cut a little short cause my camera battery died. Taken from iPhone so a bit blurry but pretty good. A few pics: Link to see more photos:gtrovato.smugmug.com/Music/Jason-Castro-show-at-Flytrap/11511514_Ei2JX#810187037_bAJme

I loved your pictures and videos , Gloria! I'm glad all of you had a great time...After listening to Jason on the Matt Hires Tour and in all those venues with the great acoustics and sound systems, the FlyTrap is quite a step down in sound quality, isn't it? I remember from Jason's first appearance there how bad the rebound noise from the microphone was...That horrible screechy sound! Just when you can finally hear Jason loud enough and clearly it gives off that piercing squeal...poor Jason! I hope he doesn't have to deal with this all the time, while he's on tour with the band...His voice gets lost within the background music

I thought the sound was superb... I didn't notice any screeching from the mics or sound system... I thought Jason and the band sounded really good... Maybe it didn't translate so well onto video, but it was great there live.
I was actually surprised it sounded so much better than before. I think they've done some remodeling, but it is still just a big ol' warehouse, not something designed to be acoustically top notch.
I loved it and I will go back there any time Jason is there...
