LindaRas's review - part 3 Jason's next song was "You Can Always Come Home," - he said it's usually a "sweet duet" & that he recorded it with Serena Ryder. I had seen Caitlin Crosby sing it with him last time at Joe's Pub, & I wish I'd been able to see Jackie perform it with him - the vids I've seen on youtube were really awesome - Jackie's a great singer too, with a lovely voice & a poised stage presence - hard to believe she's only 15 (16 now?) This time Jason sang it with an accordion backup (I think it was Jordan Critz, who plays keyboards & guitar & sings back up - but it was hard to see that side of the stage from where I was sitting. So someone, please correct me if I'm wrong.) Anyway, I thought the accordion gave it a nice, interesting arrangement. And I know it's not his song, but Jason sings it like he means it. Like he always did so well with others' songs on AI. Next was "That's What I'm Here For" - love that song, it makes a great single, IMO. Love the great, light-rock sound. I tried not to sing along, because I was sitting right next to Nancy, with her live cell feed, but I couldn't help but sing a little, as softly as I could, on this one. "This Heart of Mine" was next - this song really focused on drummer Eli Logothetis - he gave it a great rockin beat. (Actually, rereader corrected me - it wasn't Eli, but Jason Dering filling in - thanks, rereader, for helping me get the details right!) Steve, Ben, & Jordan all joined in harmony on the lines, "Fall on me like I fall on you." A nice touch. They all added a great spin on the beginning of "Love Uncompromised" - singing the chorus with acapella harmonies. It sounded so cool. I loved Jason's phrasing on this, too - he changed it up a bit, & his vocals were great. Then he shared "a journey I've been involved with" - the organization MalariaNoMore.org - that supplies nets to protect people, especially children, in countries with a malaria epidemic. I heard about his work with this charity - I'm going to check it out & hopefully be able to make a donation soon. He followed this with "Sweet Medicine" - again, his vocals were so emotional, really connected with the lyrics. The guitar & keyboards lines, & the shimmery cymbals added a nice touch - just lovely. I noticed the audience was enraptured for this one, too. He said the next song is "kind of a new one," that he recorded the day before with the band. I was so glad it was "Changing Colors" - I'd hoped to be able to hear this one live, the vids I've seen of it were great! I really love the lyrics & melody of this song - another great addition to his repertoire. Then he played one more with the band - "Closer" - & got everyone to sing along to the chorus - a great upbeat feeling in the room. Again, I could see the tightness of the band, & Jason rocked out & looked like he was having so much fun. Then Jason said, "I like to end my sets with a very special song... one of my favorites..." He said he would sing it unplugged & asked us all to "lend me an ear." "Hallelujah," of course - but this was the most amazing performance I've seen him do of it. At first people were murmuring in the crowd, but a hush fell over the audience as everyone felt the specialness of the song. He sang it at the edge of the stage, under a single spotlight - & it was so clear to see him pouring his heart & soul into it. It was absolutely gorgeous. I held my breath throughout the whole song & hung on to every note. Some of the people were crying... it was really moving. After the stage went dark, the band came back out, & Jason said they'd do one more song - a cover, that he's recording for a live EP with the band. (A live EP?? Squee!) He asked if we could guess what it is. Our table yelled out, "Tom Petty!" And he said, "I guess you all are fans!" It was Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly" - another perfect cover for Jason, I think. I love Tom Petty too, & this has always been one of my favorite of his songs - Jason did it so well, with energy & heart. A lot of us sang along with him near the end. A great way to end a perfect show! (OK, if you all are still with me, I'll write a bit about the after show meet & greets!) Thanks for reading this, & sorry if it's so long - I get carried away sometimes!

Hello, ladies! Lindaras is doing such an awesome job that I don't know what I can add, but... First, it was beyond wonderful to be able to reconnect and connect with so many wonderful people! (I'm not starting with names lest I forget one, which, on 4 hours of sleep, is inevitable.) Joe's Pub has two shows a night; the 7:00pm is supposed to be done and out before 9:00pm so that the 9:00pm show can start more or less on time. Apparently that did not happen last night. I think they didn't get started until 9:35 or maybe a bit later--you all would know exactly because of the live stream, which I cannot wait to go and watch! Since they started so late, Michael and Camera Can’t Lie had VERY short sets—Michael had two songs and Camera Can’t Lie had three. Michael did seem to feel a little rushed and maybe a bit flustered by it, but he sounded fine to me. Camera Can’t Lie only sang 3 songs, but I didn’t mind that at all—I have one of their EPs, and I only really like one of their songs (Days & Days) and they sang that one, so I was fine with them having a shorter set. Except I did feel bad for them—I think they said it was their first time performing in New York, so having their set curtailed like that had to hurt. Jason was totally ON last night! I didn't get a rushed feeling from him, though--instead I got this feeling of shimmering excitement from him, much more totally throwing himself into the moment than feeling rushed. The tempo on most of the songs WAS faster than on the CD, but but since the band was right there with him, I suspect it had more to do with a calculated decision based on the differences in the experience of a live concert and the experience of being home alone listening to music. Either way, it was a very dynamic set, and Jason just lit up the stage and the whole room. When I remembered to, I tried to look around to gauge how the audience was taking it, but it’s very dark in there. From what I could tell, though, he seemed to have the whole room riveted, and I’m not at all surprised, he was spot on and in great voice all the way through. A few things that stood out for me...he sang You Can Always Come Home with Jordan doing a little bit of the harmony (Jason told everyone to ignore the guy in the corner, hee) and accompanying him on the accordion which was a new, interesting sound; they did that wonderful harmony opening to Love Uncompromised that might even make me like that song unreservedly; Hallelujah unplugged was literally breathtaking; and then the band came back out, and they did the Tom Petty song. I know some Tom Petty songs, but that one was new to me, and perfect for Jason. I got a chance to meet and chat with Dave Helfant, who is really nice, and also to chat a bit with Jordan, ditto. I told Jordan to check out a particular klezmer song for some amazing accordion playing; I later tweeted him the link, I wonder if he’ll listen to it. I suspect he was more polite than interested, but we'll see. And at one point when Michael was sitting with nothing to do I went over and told him I was glad he was enjoying a couple of games he tweeted about playing that had tweet-suggested—and when I identified myself he went “Oh, I know you!” *beat* “Sort of.” Heh. Then I told him if he got bored, two words—iTunes U. (I couldn't help myself. ;D Living up to a stereotype tickles my funnybone.) And I got my CD--I only preordered the download because I wanted to buy the hardcopy at a concert--and I got it signed, and finally retained the presence of mind to tell Jason that I especially love "That's What I'm Here For" because there aren’t many good songs about friendship, and this is a lovely one, and that was pretty much the extent of our conversation. To sum it up...when can we do it again? ?elebenty-oneelebenty-one!!

LindaRas's after-show story - So, after the show, a crowd gathered in the lobby to buy merch & to meet Jason. We all got in line to wait our turn. Jason, as always, was wonderful with everyone, taking his time to talk to every fan. He really is awesome to share his time with all of us.especially since he was probably tired after a long day & a pretty late show. Michael was running the merch table - I thought that was kind of funny, so as I was ready to buy some stuff, I said to him, "So, you're the opening act AND the hired help!" And he laughed & said yeah, but he likes doing the merch too. I picked out Jason's tour poster, & I got Michael's CD too - I said I loved hearing his songs, but wished he could have done more of them. He said the show had started late, so that was all he had time for & I said, next time just keep on singing! I also told him he should do a duet with Jason sometime. (Yeah, I guess I'm opinionated & a little bossy, lol!) He also had a t-shirt, with a cartoon of him on it, (with a "diamond" stud in the ear!) & a checklist at the bottom, that said mullet, specs, & skunk stripe - it was so clever & cool - I asked who did the shirts & he said he did the design, & had a friend make them. So I had to get that, too. It was so easy to talk to Michael - he's down-to-earth & personable - so much like Jason, but in his own unique way. He posed for a picture with Nancy & me. I'd hoped to get one with both brothers, but we didn't have time. Maybe he'll be on another tour with Jason, I hope! I'd love to hear more of his music live. Then Nancy & I talked to Jason while he signed our posters. It's funny - the first time I got to meet him, at the AI show, by the time I got up to Albany, I was so nerved up that I could barely breathe & I couldn't feel my feet! LOL - I've met so many musicians, & writers, & I'm usually not like that at all! I guess it was the idea that I was finally meeting this awesome guy I'd seen on TV every week, up close. And Jason does tend to make some fans breathless! But each time I've seen him, I've gotten to meet him after the show, & I've gotten more used to talking to him. Now I just want to make sure of what I want to say, & try not to ramble on & on (like I tend to do sometimes, lol!) I knew that Jason had just a bit of time to spend talking to each fan, so I thought about what to say to him. Not just the same old "I love your music!" thing. So I told him that at the Barnes & Noble where I work, we've been selling a lot of his CDs. I said that the store usually gets several promo CD to play in-store each month, from the record labels. But we didn't get one for Jason - I said, "You should talk to Atlantic about that!" (Yeah, bossy me again, but I was just kidding, I hope he took it that way!) Anyway, I said that I bought a copy just for the store to play, & that in the 1st week of release, his CD was #2 in sales, just below Natalie Merchant. I said she was #1 because there was a lot of promo for her CD, including a big sign in the window. "But you were #2 in sales," I told him, "because of me!" He smiled, & said, really? Thanks! Then I realized that might have sounded a little in-your-face! Nancy helped me out by telling him that she also played his CD in her restaurant so the people could hear it, & everyone seemed to like it. And I added, "We're just doing our little part to help out." And he thanked us for that! So I guess I'm way over my nervousness - I just have to be careful so I don't seem like I want to run his career for him, lol!! ( I've done a bit of band management & promotions for friends' bands in the past - I guess I just can't help old habits!) But I think his manager is doing a great job for him! Anyway, Jason was gracious, & posed for a nice pic with me, Nancy & fragileheart. Nancy & I had hoped to be a part of the street team pic, but we realized we were running late for our train, so we had to go. We ended up running & making the train with only minutes to spare! It was another fantastic Jason show, & one that I'll remember for a long, long time! Thanks to Jason, Michael, & everyone who shared the show!! And thanks to you all for reading! Dreadhead peace & love to y'all!!

Linda...I loved, loved, loved your Long chapter posts! You are a woman after my own heart! Thank you for all the little details...My favorite part of other fan's concert experience is reading their re-caps afterward and seeing their pictures and video's. I feel like I've been to dozens of concerts with all of you, instead of just 3... I can hardly wait to see your pictures and I hope you post the one of you, Nancy and Cristina together!

I was at the show last night at Joe's Pub! Jason was great as usual - he lit up the room. I This is the first time I was so close to him, sitting just about right in front of him. It was amazing seeing this guy you watched on tv and just love. I saw him on the idol tour but wasn't close to the stage and he didn't come out afterwards. Another thing it was hard for me to leave without meeting him since I had to run to get a car to get home. Darn It! Maybe he'll be there again and have the 7:00 show.
