Kelsey, the radio station putting on the Christmas concert at HOB Orlando won't be announcing the show until early November. Until then, I am positive that HOB won't be advertising it at all. Don't be discouraged if you don't see anything posted about it this weekend.

I had a great time meeting everyone. Jason's fans are some of the nicest people in the world - I'm convinced of it! ;D Met Betsy, and she is so adorable just like her son. Very beautiful on the inside and out. She is short - didn't realize how little she is. I'm sure all this is tiring for them, but they give it 110% and it shows. The only thing i didn't get to do is hug Jason. I told myself that the next time I met him I would ask for a hug. (I know that is a very fangirly thing) but anyway, the way the pictures were made with a table between us, that wouldn't have been easy. But as always, he was soooo sweet. Roy33 (Jean) suggested that I have him sign the calendar on my b-day, so I did. And ladies, y'all are not going to BELIEVE how amazing this calendar is. As great as 2009 is, 2010 is 10Xbetter - I know you're saying NO WAY, but just wait. OK here's my funny story. While I was being a fangirl and standing close to the stage with Ljazz, and the other dreadies, my 23 YO daughter was sitting on the sidelines at a table in the foodcourt - just enjoying Jason from a distance. She told me the highlight of her night was this... In her words, "Mom, the funniest thing happened. There were these two 20-something, African American guys, dressed in "gangsta" garb. They walked right by me while Jason was singing somewhere over the rainbow. As the one guy kind of rolled his eyes and started walking off, the other guy grabbed his arm, and said 'Wait a minute man, I like this song.' This guy was really gettin' into the song, singing it and air-playing the uke. And when Jason got to the high part of SOTR, the guy just LOVED it. He said 'Mannn', shook his head like he thought that was amazing (which it was.) They stayed through that whole song and listened to the first part of "Let's Just Fall in Love Again", before they walked away." I'm sure this won't be as funny reading, but I wish y'all could have heard Shelly tell it. I bet you that one guy would have loved to have stayed and listened to the whole set. Peer pressure probably got the best of him. "Let's Just Fall in Love Again" was probably a bit much. Hehe

Of course they wanted to just ignore me. They said no thanks and I said, are you kidding. You need to call your girlfriend or a girl your interested in and have them meet you out here. The one guy grabbed the flyer and the other one very shyly said, I guess I'll take one. It was too funny....................Glad you had a great time. It's so much fun seeing peoples reactions to Jason's music.

WOW!! What a day I had!
Of course, I was in front of the TV at 9:00am to watch Jason on Good Day Atlanta Xtra. He was so good in the interview, and the host was really liking him!
I got to the mall at about 1:45 to street team. Driving in the rain in Atlanta on a Friday is never fun! I had a great time handing out bookmarks and flyers and inviting people to be there for the show at 6:00. Most everyone was so nice and receptive. I surprised myself cause I'm sometimes more of a background person until I really get to know people. Anyway, I spotted 2 ladies and a young girl approaching, and I went to them to give them the flyers and invite them to the show. They all started laughing, and said that was what they were here for! The girl, Anna, was the cutest thing I've ever met. She told me she is Jason's biggest fan (I didn't tell her otherwise haha) and opened her jacket to show me her Jason tee. She was so excited about everything! Anna and her mom and aunt told me they had AI watch parties every week for Jason, and her mom and aunt voted for 2 hours each night. Anna called her aunt every morning after to be sure she voted the full 2 hrs. Anna told me Jason's birthday performance night was the best night of her life, because it was her birthday, too! I can't tell y'all how cute and excited she was! I introduced her to Betsy and she got a picture with her. Betsy wished her happy early birthday. She was so sweet to Anna. And I, too, was surprised at how tiny Betsy is. I didn't realize she was that short. And very petite. And beautiful and kind!
While we were waiting for Jason to come for sound check, he tweeted that the first person to respond would get to meet him backstage before the show. I was trying, but unfortunately was not first! Found out later that the winner was singin72 - our Regional Street Team Leader. She was still stuck in traffic in the rain when the tweet came through! I was tres disappointed!
Anyway, I had just picked up another handful of flyers and started back to my post, and what do I see?? A group of security guards walking towards me, and a glimpse of dreads in the middle!! I rushed back to the stage area and told everyone Jason was coming for sound check. He was so cute and talkative as he was getting set up. He joked with us a bit as they worked through sound check. As he was leaving the stage, there was a group of 4 or 5 teen girls at the foot of the stairs talking to him. The guards were trying to hustle him off, but he stopped and took pictures with all the girls before leaving.
After sound check, they started setting up the merchandise table. That's when we got our first glance at the 2010 calendar, and let me tell you guys, it is full of awesome!! The pictures were all from the photo shoot in LA where the single photo was taken. Several pictures that we haven't seen in the group, and they are gorgeous!! Betsy said this was her favorite group of pictures of all Jason's shoots. She told us the December pic is her favorite because of Jason's feet - you'll understand when you see the pic! The October picture took my breath away! And my birthday month of August is another stunner!! I told sweet little Anna to get a calendar and then ask Jason to autograph it on their birthday. There were a couple of guys from the f.y.e. store chain selling pre-orders of the CD, and giving out wristbands to the head of the M&G line if you purchased one. Since I intend to gift my sisters and nieces and, of course, my DD with a copy of the CD when it is released, I decided to buy 2 then so DD and I could get in the M&G line early.....and so did a BUNCH of other people!! Oh, and I almost forgot!! While I was at the merchandise table there was a guy there, but someone was standing between us. That person stepped away, and I glanced at the guy next to me. My heart stopped ... the guy in profile looked exactly like my ex #1, whom I haven't seen in about 30 years!! I didn't know what to do. Do I step away and turn my head? Do I speak? I finally touched him on the arm and said "Excuse me." When he turned to face me I saw that it wasn't the ex. So I told the guy I thought he was someone else from his side view. He was nice, but probably thought I was some crazy lady!! haha
Back to Jason. By the time he came back onstage for the concert, there was a huge crowd in the food court. Did you all see the picture of the crowd Betsy tweeted? Jason sang 6 songs: That's What I'm Here For Love Uncompromised SOTR Let's Just Fall In Love Again This Heart of Mine Hallelujah He was perfect! He told us to sing along if we knew the songs. There were a couple of teen girls right in the front who were singing along, and swaying, and they had added hand and arm motions as they sang. Jason told them he liked their choreography. Kennedy, one of our street teamers, won the X-box and got to be on stage with Jason and take pictures, etc.
After the show we all lined up for the M&G. They had the line set up behind the table, and then circling around to the front. Thus the perfect PANTZ!!!!!!!! shot when Jason leaned over the table for a photo with someone!! I couldn't resist it! I told my DD to take the picture when we were right behind him. The girls from the front of the stage - the "backup singers" - and some of their friends were in front of us. They were giggling about Julie taking a pic of Jason's bum. Greenie from Castrocopia was there with her baby boy. When she got her moment with Jason, she took the baby out of his stroller and Jason was holding the baby for a picture. I was still behind him, but I bet that was a gorgeous shot. Jason holding a baby! An AWWW! moment. When we finally got up to Jason I had him autograph the calendar on my birthday and Julie's birthday. Then Julie took our picture, and I took a pic of Julie and Jason. But my finger was partly covering the lens, so I wanted a do-over. The security guard said to move on and wait till the end of the line, but Jason said let's do it; it'll only take a second. He's so sweet!
As we exited the M&G area, I spotted Rodney Ho. He is a writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and writes the AI Buzz blog. I went up to him and thanked him for the recent interview and his favorable comments about Jason since his season on AI. I told Rodney I was one of the 2 Jason fans who posted on his blog. (Long story short, a lot of the regular posters on his blog are not Jason fans. I have posted favorable comments several times, and had posted a comment after the interview. One of the regulars said something about hearing from one of the 2 Jason fans.) Rodney laughed when I said that. We stood and talked for quite some time, and Rebecca (PRNC5) joined us. Rodney asked us a bunch of questions, and then he took our picture, names, phone #'s, etc. So maybe Rebecca and I will be in his blog post!! After we finished talking to Rodney, we were waiting around to try to get a street team photo op with Jason and Betsy. I sat down at one of the tables, and Julie went for a drink. Rodney wandered back by with a plate of food, and he came over and sat down with me while he ate his dinner. We talked for a long time about AI. He asked me if I had watched from the start, which was my favorite season (duh!), and who did I like each year. He said his favorite season was 5. He liked the contestants, and that was the year his blog drew the most posts. He said that all theSeason 5 Top 10 were supposed to be available for interviews, as they are releasing Idol Rewind 5. He had heard from and interviewed everyone but Kat McPhee and Daughtry. He said Kat's publicist didn't even respond. He had tried several times to interview her, but had never been successful. He had been able to interview Daughtry in the past, but couldn't get it worked out this time. Again, he told me how nice and enjoyable Jason is, and that he really hopes he has success. We talked about where we think he will perform when his tour comes back next year. I don't know some of the newer venues in town, but Julie and Rodney had a lively discussion of the various venues. He is a nice guy, too.
As the M&G came to a close, Jason was hustled off without the street team getting our chance for a group picture! Shortly after, Jason tweeted from a concert in town. Turns out the guy running the merchandise table is @earthtoandrew from his tweets, and he was friends with the groups performing at this concert.
So my Jason Day was coming to a close. I had a nice dinner with my daughter, and made her promise to upload her pictures and send them to me as soon as she got home - which she did. I was so tired when I got home. My knees were screaming, and I was so stiff from standing so long. But I'd do it all over again tomorrow if Jason was near again!!!
Boy, I didn't intend this to be so long, but it just all came out! ;D
