I'm going! I'm finally committing to it. Haha. My parents are going to Austin too but they are going to the UT game and they might come to the show after the game but probably not.
I wonder what Christmas songs Jason will sing. I know he won't sing this one but I just wanted to post it because it's one of my favorite Christmas songs. But don't listen to it if you don't want to cry.

Kali, the tree lighting ceremony starts at 6pm. I kind of doubt they'll start with Jason. But, at least that gives you a better idea of a time frame.

The concert will happen near the big tree at Macys. There will be no meet and greet, which surprises me, but whatever.
Starlight, there is a California Pizza place nearby. Would you try to find out something better and please remember us Vegetarians? We'll meet at 11am right? And, please don't make it too far way from Macys.
Shopping and Jason, can there be a more perfect world? Oh yes, and complimentary carriage rides.

Only one thing. Can make it more perfect Darlin...a no limit card that needs no repayment or or or maybe no crowds or lines yep...either one would make perfect a little more so!

I live in Austin and attended the tree lighting at the Domain last year. Jordan Sparks was the headliner. The opening acts were a church choir and a local musician with a short acoustic set. After Jordan sang, Santa and Jordan flipped the switch for the tree and fireworks went up. The Domain is a complex with condos and very expensive shops and eateries. There is a lot of construction going on around that area and not a lot of parking. The tree is set up outside of the Macy's store in the courtyard. This is an outdoor shopping center so if the weather turns bad, cold or rain, be prepared.
Last year my daughter and I arrived at 5pm, barely found a place to park (a grassy area north of the center) and stood in a huge, packed crowd for 2 hrs before Jordan came out. We were probably about 100 yds from the stage. There really wasn't anywhere to sit.
I wouldn't advise going to this if your not up to standing for a long time in one small space.
All of that said, I am really excited for Jason to be performing in Austin. My daughter and I have been fans since AI and we can't wait for Nov 21.

Thanks for the report of last year's show, pandasmama. I'm certain that it will be very helpful to those people lucky enough to be going.
And, it's great to see you post your first post! Welcome!

That's my favorite pizza place and I know they have good vegetarian options.

Thanks for the welcome. I've actually followed Jason and his fan sites since AI7 but have never posted on Jason's sites. My teenage daughter and I are fans of David Archuleta also and I'm more likely to be over there. Sorry. We are excited that Jason is going to be in Austin. Maybe we can meet up with some of you that get to the tree lighting. Let me know and we'll try to get out there early. By the way , my name is Margy.

Welcome Margy! I can't believe I completely missed your post. Thank you so much for the the recap of last year's treelighting. It gives us notice of how things are going to be. Now I'm kind of worried because I made plans in Austin that I cannot break from around 1-5pm. That means I won't get there until about 5:30 and after reading your recap of the traffic and crowds it's getting me worried. Do you have to pay for parking? I guess if he doesn't start til 7 it gives me plenty of time to park and find everyone so I shouldn't really be worried.
And yes you are more than welcome to join us. We are talking about meeting for lunch at around 11am.
