Re: 5/4/10 -- Atlanta
by AtlKat on Wed May 05, 2010 10:31 am Great Atlanta show last night. Seemed to be about 200 in attendance. People of all sorts were there: black, white, hispanic, gay, straight, teens to mid-lifers. Broad appeal, but I wish for his sake that he could find more fans. Sweet guy who seems to be working really hard. The way he looked at each person in the audience, his very emotional response while singing It Matters to Me, and finally his absolutely gorgeous Hallelujah made for a fabulous show experience. He was off the mike when singing Hallelujah which let us hear his "real" voice. Believe it or not, he sounds really different when he's not miked and that voice is a-mazing. To come home and watch the crapola that is AI9 compared to JC and his season... well... there is no comparison. Do not miss seeing Jason if the opportunity arrives in a city near you!

My recap:
Michael opened and spent most of his time onstage talking about how sick he was. For me, it became a bit annoying considering he was only doing a handful of songs. CameraCan'tLie was next and although I did like a few of their songs, it seemed the band drowned out the singer on a few of them. Also, the singer made several disparaging remarks about Atlanta which seemed a bit impolite. Jason, on the other hand, was his usual gracious, appreciative and humble self, even expressing concern that the people in the front row (me) would catch his germs He didn't make too big a deal about being sick even though everyone knows bronchitis is a big deal. He really tried to give each song his all and was very grateful to the audience for helping him out.He apologized for being sick for the second time in Atlanta. Last time he had the stomach flu and cut the evening short. I thought I heard him say he would be back after June and would make it up to us. Did anyone else hear him say that?
He dedicated It Matters To Me to his fans who have given him our love and support stating "because it matters to me"
Jordan offered me the set list and I had Jason sign it. I did notice that he had cut the evening short by 2 songs. He didn't sing Sweet Medicine or Changing Colors. Guess he felt he just couldn't handle them. I had a moment of embarrassment when I started to ask him if he remembered me and he said "you ask me that every time I see you and I keep telling you of course I do. I really do recognize people" (spanked by Jason, oh my) Even though, he was obviously feeling bad (his eyes were glassy and he was coughing into his elbow) he stayed and chatted for a long time. I spoke briefly to the Mrs and for some reason I had had the impression she was this shy little thing but she's actually very talkative and outgoing.

Guess you won't ask him again if he remembers you!! haha...also glad to know Mandy isn't a shy little thing...I was assuming that, too.. Jasons a mature young man, very concerned about others, puts others first it seems!! If he was ever a spoiled brat, its long gone!! I remember when Betsi chatted with us more, her saying that he was always a caring person, eager to care about what someone else needed...and spent lots of time with a grandmother, learning from her, taking long talking walks with her....made me want to be that gramma!!

Yeah, it was awesome for sure...sweet medicine! It was so good to see all ya'll again and hang out together soaking up some Jason bliss. Kali, I'm so sorry you didn't make it. I saw Coke and her daughter, Bennie, Yolanda, Parisgirl and guy, even PRNC5Rebecca, several Copians, Slutty, singin72, misfit,sacsis...it was so cool to see how much our Boy has grown...to think just 4 yrs. ago he was teaching himself to play guitar and now a sound crew is setting up his instruments before he comes on stage. Michael came on first and he is even goofier than Jason...between songs he would tell us he was hungry or dizzy, sometimes he would even talk in the middle of a song. He kept apologizing for being sick and coughing and not sounding right but he needn't have...he sounded really good, even sick. That extra little raspiness in his voice was kinda sexy. Then came CamerasCan'tLie and honestly I was so excited about Jason coming next that I didn't pay good attention to them...my bad. My son's girlfriend dragged me up close to the front before Jason came on and I felt like I was cheating but she made me do it! Can you blame me? God bless her cuz we had a good spot. Jason still has that shy little grin when he first comes on stage for about the first minute which is precious...it was while the crowd was screaming and cheering. Believe me...Atlanta made some noise! He looked like he didn't feel great but he gave it his all...he wasn't about to let us down. He dedicated ItMattersToMe to us for supporting him from the beginning. He changed up LoveUncompromised a little by having the whole band singing the chorus first, without instruments for a few seconds before the instruments came in, it was cool. People say he sang for about an hour but it seemed longer to me...maybe cuz I was hanging on every moment. He was wonderful...as usual he does not disappoint. My favorite wow moment was his last song...Hallelujah...he did it unplugged even with no mic...and the whole room sang along for the hallelujahs. It was INcredible! It was like sitting around a campfire with him. It was just beautiful! Afterwards he stayed until every person in line had a picture and an autograph...even still always gracious and appreciative, such a sweetheart. We chatted with Mandy for a few minutes and she is cute as a button, she had just flown in that day so she wasn't sick. She thanked us over and over for coming out and supporting them. She has a sweet spirit like our Jason. It was a wonderful, wonderful night...wish I could do it again next week!

Thank you for the detailed reviews. I loved reading them and since I myself can't remember both faces and names - I always admire those who can...
