Somebody please do me a favor? If you get to meet Jason would you please shake hands with him for me and tell him this is from Serene? I may never get to do that myself so this is the second best, have another dear DH do it for me.....And if you could capture a picture of that......oh my, that would be absolutely fantastamazing!! ANy volunteers?? I'm planning on shaking his hand, Serene! I'll have someone take a picture and tell him it has to be extra long because it's for both Serene and me! And then I will wait to wash my hand until I see you in Reno!elebenty-one *well...that might be a little gross, so just pretend it's straight from Jason's hand...okay?* Umm, thanks JB, but would it be too much to ask if I get my own handshake? LOL! Like, you could tell him ok, now we have to shake again for my friend Serene. Would that embarrass you?

Heck no....I'll just tell him I need two separate shakes...one for me and one for my friend Serene in Reno, who I will be seeing in a couple days when I deliver her handshake to her personally! How's that? And someone will have to take a pic of each one so I can give you the photographic evidence as well!

I already have quite the menagerie living here as it is....did I tell you about my daughter's new litter of 12 baby mice? your daughter had a litter of mice, Sue??? Verrry interesting... ;D And you thought "I" was the only strange one, Huh? Ha Ha! Actually, Jasmine is the mommy mouse and, of course, Aladdin is the daddy mouse. The babies are very cute, now that their eyes are open. My daughter wants to go into veterinary medicine, which is why we have a large and varied assortment of critters, including a beautiful corn snake, and no, she isn't raising the mice to feed to the snake. She buys frozen pinkies for the snake. I'm still trying to get use to that! She has recorded all the babies markings and weight and kept a running record of the entire litter for breeding purposes. Thankfully it is only mice that she is breeding and then selling. Though how she figures she can be sure they will go to good homes and not be purchased for food for larger reptiles, I don't know....I just know that I don't want a house full of caged rodents, no matter how cute they are, indefinitely, if she can't find good homes for them. Fortunately, she won't arrange for a second litter until these 12 are gone...that is, unless she gets sneaky again and doesn't tell me until the dirty deed is done! and Serene...as far as I know, she hasn't named any of them yet!

I have a corn snake, too. I hate to say it, but we have to feed her live pinkies. Thats what she ate before we got her. Weve tried the frozen ones, but she refuses to eat them. I can't stand to feed her, so my husband does it.
I think snakes are beautiful, but I never would have gotten one, because of the feeding issue. We ended up with ours because it was a rescue situation.

my daughter's new litter of 12 baby mice? and Serene...as far as I know, she hasn't named any of them yet! Well, let's see. There's the 12 Apostles (probably a little bit sacrilegious!), the 12 tribes of Israel (could be interesting), the 12 Days of Christmas (here Piper, here Golden Ring, here Partridge...perhaps not), the 12 steps (just no), and the 12 Angry Men (loooove that movie). What else?

ummm - what exactly are pinkies? surely not little fingers!! ewwwwwww Actually, Bennie....they are new born baby mice...They are called pinkies because they are hairless and pink! The one's my daughter buys at the pet shop to feed her snake were either stillborn or killed by the mother or died on their own...usually because there are too many babies for the mom's 10 teets. Laura's mouse actually gave birth to 14, but two mysteriously disappeared. They were all born healthy looking, but possibily they were the weakest of the 14 and couldn't fight for their turn at the mother's milk. My daughter buys them prepackaged and frozen and then feeds them to her snake after they have thawed and gotten to room temp. Aren't you glad you asked? NOT!!

Sorry, but I just couldn't allow that in my house. The only thing I hate more than snakes is rats (and mice are rats to me!) Our kitty used to kill field mice and leave them on the front porch - I guess as a gift to us - and, even though Julie was only 7 or 8, she had to scoop them up and throw them away. I just couldn't!!! It's been a phobia since I was a child.
