To all future concert goers ... just as a heads up ... when Jason finished his set, almost everyone that had been standing (crowding) the stage went to the back of the room to stand in line for merchandise and pictures with Jason. It is natural and right that, if that is who you mainly came to see, that is who you want to talk to. Jason stayed last night until he had talked to each and every person that wanted time with him. He left before the end of the show so that he could start his drive to Decatur. The venue was small enough that, even though we were not standing right in front of the stage, we could still see and hear and appreciate Matt. But, and this is a big but, many people got their Jason time and left the venue. By the time Matt's set was done a big portion of the crowd was gone. If at all possible, stick around for Matt's set. Show him a little bit of Dreadhead love. He is a great performer and has some beautiful songs. And, he is a super nice guy. Matt is the headliner on this tour and I can't help but feel that, sooner or later, it going to really bug him that people are bolting before the end of the show. Okay. End of my public service announcement. The videos are uploading. I'll post them as they become available. Bennie, have a blast tonight!elebenty-one!! I'm jealous knowing what a great show you have in store. Drive safely, I understand it's raining a lot in Decatur. Great advice SameCage. Yes...thanks for the very thoughtful reminder. Matt and Caitlyn are new to me as artists and want them to have a great experience touring with Jason...need to show the love!

Thank you so much for the videos Samecage. I'm still crossing my fingers for a Tampa show. I'm hoping that they are waiting to see how successful the tour is before committing to the last few shows. I have to wonder if Atlantic got this lineup right. The headlining act should always have the most fans and not have to worry that everyone is over at the merchandise table. It will be interesting to see how the different cities play out for Jason and Matt.

ok being honest here and it's only my opinion but I am NOT feeling the background vocalist, again IMO they are not meshing and his voice isn't complimenting Jasons. Is it just me? "Love Uncompromised" specificly.

Same Cage!! Thanks for all those gorgeous videos that I have yet to listen to over the weekend. That's pretty cool to hear the first tour concert by Jason.
I hope he definitely ends in FL so you can "compare" the green with the experienced tour Jason.

Samecage, I hope we can get together again in my stomping grounds in March! And I loved the "duet" with Castroscougar as well. Ha! Rosequeen, I definitely like the band version better.

This is my recap of our trip to Jacksonville to see Jason . I’m sorry it’s taken me so long. I had to work and spend time with my family when I got back. Anyway, I left work and drove to pick up Same Cage at her house. We drove up to Jacksonville together and checked into this really nice hotel near the venue. After we dropped off our things, we went to find food. It was practically dinner time by this time, but oh well, we were starved. Found a really cute bistro and had a great meal. Then we went back to the hotel to wait for FaithHopeJoy (a Castrocopian) to arrive. When she did, Same Cage went down to the parking lot to look for her car so she could use the room key to get her into the parking garage. While down there she spots Jason at our hotel. She said they looked at each other and Jason must have thought she was a stalker. Haha. Same Cage and FaithHopeJoy came back up to the room and were excitedly telling me there was a Jason sighting. We all looked out the window and sure enough his van was parked down there with Texas plates and I saw him walking by. Pretty cool. He must have been checking out. We weren’t sure at the time whether he was arriving or leaving, but later determined that he left for Georgia right after he finished his meet and greets so he had to be checking out. So we hung at the hotel until it was time to go meet LC and Castroscouger for dinner at this little grill at the Loop. The food was really good and fattening, but we weren’t all that hungry as we had just eaten like two hours ago. LOL. We sat and talked for a long while and then drove over to the venue. We were cracking up before dinner when we drove past the venue on the way to dinner because there was no real signage and the place didn’t look like much from the outside. It just said Jack Rabbits on the door with a rabbit logo. That was it. It was in a nice neighbor at least. We met LC’s family while waiting in the line and chatted. When we were admitted to the club, I was surprised that the stage was no bigger than a postage stamp. The bathrooms were labeled “Jack” and “Jill”. It had a bar, a lopsided couch and merch counters in the back. We quickly found a spot close to the stage and stood there chatting with a lady named Carmen who visits TheDreadheads and Castrocopia everyday, but didn’t know either site had a forum. We caught her up on that and introduced her to the Street Team Leader. She was really nice and loves Jason. She had brought him a book her four-year-old students had made and the subject was “How to Have a Happy Marriage”. The kids wrote things like “Buy her a Diamond Crown”. So adorable. After a very short wait, Caitlin came on stage with the most beautiful guitar. She was a beautiful girl and she was talkative and funny between songs. She sang about six songs off her album (I didn’t make a list, sorry). I was really impressed with her music and its message. One of my favorite songs of hers was “Still Have My Heart”. It was very catchy! She played for about 30 minutes. Then she said she’d be hanging around and to come say hi. She was taking pictures of people in the bathroom with signs they had printed about which of their flaws they loved. She said she’d be making another video with them. She also brought keys that were one of a kind that, if you bought them, you got her old EP for free which she said wasn’t really a good representation of her. I guess the keys were stamped with inspirational words on them. Then Jason and Stephen took the stage and were setting up. Same Cage has videos of everything! I am headed to watch them all after I post this. Jason sang eight songs! That’s What I’m Here For Love Uncompromised Closer (acoustic) It Matters to Me If I Were You You Can Always Come Home (with Caitlin doing a fabulous job) Let’s Just Fall in Love Again (we sang along) Hallelujah (with the lights lowered) He sounded wonderful. I took tons of pictures. I sang along with every word. His set seemed to go by way too fast. He received a lot of love from the audience. Of course, girls shouted out “We love you, Jason” while he was there with his red pick in his mouth. After he took the pick out of his mouth, he said thanks for the love. After his show, he headed back to the merch area to meet fans. He didn’t really banter a whole lot between songs. They were selling: Posters EP’s 2 different t-shirts, the white one with his picture on it and the brown one Calendars The single with the code to get the album Earlier before Caitlin’s set, I went up and bought a bunch of EP’s. So after the show we lined up to meet Jason, me with a stack of EP’s in hand. He took his time with everyone so the line took a little while. Since it was a small venue, he didn’t seem rushed. He was finished with the meet and greet before Matt’s set was finished. I felt bad to be in line during Matt’s set, but didn’t want to chance missing Jason like I did at the Orlando show when I hung out down below to watch Kris’ set and Jason was done and gone before the time I got up there. That’s ok, I’ve met Jason before anyway, can‘t be too upset about Orlando. I got to spend time with amazing people and that trip was awesome too. Kris’ set was worth the watch too. But I digress. When I got up to meet Jason finally, I smiled at him and said hi. I am showing him my stack of EP’s and asking him if he would be willing to personalize them. He says he will if I want him to. I am like, yes, please. He then autographs one for Flying. I am spelling her real name for him and ask him while he’s signing and drawing Dread Guy that this EP is for a person who wants him to come to Montreal. He said he wants to go there. I then have him sign one for Kali (poor thing was being Typhoid Mary) and then next one I told him was for Sue (didn’t need to spell this time, haha) and that that was me! He signs “To Sue! You Rock!" And then he signs and draws Dread Guy. I was deeply touched and grinning like a fool. He then signed the other EP’s I had in the regular way for me. After that, I couldn’t resist. I’ve wanted a hug forever. So I just said “Can I get a hug” and he said sure. So we hugged quickly. It was great. I felt the dreads in the back. Really cool experience. Nice hugger! Then we took our picture. I thought it turned out pretty good. And we were color coordinated, (not really, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it) LOL. After the hug and picture, I grabbed up my stuff and said “I appreciate YOU and your MUSIC so much” and he said “and I appreciate you (while touching my left arm). So sweet. I’m a swooning now. I leave him then as I had had a good five minutes or so with him and was on cloud nine and knees knocking. I then went back by the stage to take pictures of Matt and his band and listen to his songs. Boy, he’s a skinny little thing. Really nice looking too. Jason wears his PANTZ!!!!!!!! better. I didn’t notice Jason finishing up and slipping out either. I guess I was busy watching the show near the stage. I really loved Matt’s music. So I had snuck over to the merch booths at some point and bought Caitlin’s CD and Matt’s CD. I tried to find Caitlin for a while to ask for her autograph and she finally came out. She was doing the picture thing with people in the bathroom. She was very sweet. She took her time signing the CD and case in green marker with lots of care. I am very happy. I neglected to get a picture with her, shoot. I told her that she was beautiful and that I enjoyed her music. After Matt finished, I stood in a very short line to meet him. I smiled and greeted him and handed him his CD and asked him to sign it. He obliged and said “Thank you for buying it” when I handed it to him. I am like no problem. Then when he hands it back he said “I hope you’ll like it”. I said I’m sure I will because I’ve streamed your music on MySpace while working and I think I’m liking it. I then asked Same Cage to take our picture please and she did. I said something to him like, now we’re blind because the flash really did blind me for a second. Haha. I thanked him and told him I really enjoyed the show. Other people were also asking him about other Florida shows at the end of the tour that we thought may be happening. Matt said the last week of the tour was canceled. We expressed disappointed, deep disappointed. We then realized that this was the first time since October that we didn’t know when we would see Jason again. We began plotting a road trip (kidding, sort of)! I realized later at the hotel that I blinked and my eyes are shut in the picture with Matt. Oh Lo. Then we left and went back to the hotel to look at our pictures and stuff. We talked about the show and we were so excited it took us quite a while to settle down and fall asleep. I looked at the clock and I was still not asleep at 2:38 a.m. Got up at about 7:30, showered and went down to the restaurant for breakfast. It was free and very good. Then we checked out and drove back. Same Cage and I listened to Jason’s EP, Caitlin’s and Matt’s CD’s all the way back. I can now say I’m a fan of Caitlin’s and Matt’s. I really like their music. Here is a link to my photo bucket with all the pictures. Some of them are pretty good. Some are blurry. Overall, there are quite a few and most are ok. I hope you enjoy them s911.photobucket.com/home/Floridamomof4 Gramma Marcie wanted to know which songs he sang and what merch was available (cash only, it seems) so I’ve answered that up there. I’ve also given my impression of Caitlin and Matt for her. I couldn’t find any writing credits on the EP anywhere and I looked on the CD on my computer as well. The merch was for sale the whole time we were in the club. Cole was manning the booth. I’m sorry I don’t have an answer on the songwriting credit question. I had a phenomenal time and will always remember this trip. It now holds a very special place in my heart as the place I received my first Jason hug. THE END.

Thank you all for the lovely accounts and videos and pictures! I'm getting so excited to go to the Santa Fe concert next month. Tickets just went on sale and I'm nervous about waiting to get them. I think I will get them tomorrow just in case!
These smaller venues seem perfect to be able to connect with each of them, yay! I'm looking forward to having some of my friends and family see Jason for the first time! Can't wait!

YAY, Sue!! You got your hug and a lot of face time with Jason. That's great. And thanks for your recap. I love all the details!
And major thanks for the videos, SameCage. I know how much effort that takes. This is the first stop. It will be interesting to see videos from the end of the tour when he and Stephen have had weeks to fine tune the songs. And Caitlin, too, on "You Can Always Come Home". I'm sure they will get better and better. And IMO, Closer sounds better with the full band. It's a rockin song and sounds better with the band.
