Hi - I wanted to write about my experience to see Jason at Jammin Java in Va. Jason sounded so good in person and "You Can Always Come Home Again" with Caitlin Crosby and "Hallelujah" were the highlights for me. He sang about 7 songs. He asked the audience to sing the chorus of "Let's Just Fall In Love Again" with him. After his set was over he left the stage and said he was going back to the merchandise table and mingle. People flocked after him asking for pictures and it may just be my perception, but he seemed uncomfortable to me. I thought I may be wrong because everyone has always reported how responsive he is with fans. I wanted to get a picture with him but all I had was my camera phone and it is new so I wasn't sure if it had a flash. I didn't think it did. While everyone was all around Jason, I went up to the merchandise guy and asked him about t-shirts. He was a really nice, outgoing guy who said he was friends with Jason. I asked him if he would look at my camera and tell me if it had a flash because I wanted to get a picture with Jason if Jason did not mind. He said my phone did not have a flash but he had a clamp lamp light he could use on us. So he asked Jason to stand next to me and I felt awkward being an introvert but I turned and asked Jason if he minded. Jason did not respond so I am not sure if he heard me or not so I started talking about seeing him on Idol and how I fell in love with his singing and personality and he did not seem to be engaged at all so I stopped talking. So we were standing next to each other and the merchandise, friend guy turned on the light and we both were taken aback because it was so dark in the room and the light was so bright and the merchandise guy took the picture and Jason just sort of wandered away without saying anything. It was awkward and I felt embarrassed. Then the merchandise guy said the picture was black and he pushed the wrong button and told me to run and get Jason but I didn't. He was going up to the stage to see Matt Hires and people were stopping him along the way. I said something to the merchandise guy about being constantly asked for a picture and he said Jason gets this a million times a day so I think he must be just so burnt out with it. So my only interaction with Jason was awkward and embarrassing and not at all what I hoped for. His part of the concert was really wonderful though. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Was anyone else at Jammin Java?

coocoo4castro, I've always had a positive experience with Jason. He has been sick with a stomach flu or something this past week. I'm thinking he was not feeling well. He did seem to be a liitle tired Saturday night after the show. I'm sorry that part of the night was not like you had hoped.

Sorry coocoo your experience was not that great...i've met Jason many times and haven't ever had a 'bad' encounter, but i have heard of others that did not have great experiences meeting him, but i wouldn't take it personally or anything, i'm sure he has his good and bad days just like the rest of us...hopefully the next time you meet him will be much better!

Thank you for your response. I never like to presume anything so I will always ask if whatever I am asking for is okay. At the time Jason did not seem to be into having pictures taken. I bet it gets old. I don't know if he heard me talking to him or not. It was loud.

Your experience was very strange...No wonder you felt uncomfortable. I would have felt the same way. It sounds like Jason was very distracted or worried about something and he was mentally somewhere else. I wonder if his new bride was with him and maybe he somehow lost contact with her and began to worry...There are some fan's out there who have been very unhappy about their relationship and have said very unappropriate things to her. But then again, this may be my own worry because I can be a bit over protective at times. I hope that this was not the reason for his strange behavior, but it would certainly make sense because he's normally very accommodating...and like Sue mentioned above, he has also been feeling ill during the last few shows and may have been feeling very tired and a bit out of sorts because of any medication he was taking.... I'm so sorry this didn't turn out like you had hoped for. I hope you get many more opportunities to enjoy Jason's interactions and patience with his fans at future shows!

Why would any fans be unhappy about Jason's personal relationship? What business is it of theirs and why in the world would they say inappropriate things to her. That is just crazy. I did hear he has been sick from his twitter but when he was on stage he seemed great.

Thank you for the recap, coocoo (coocool name - lol) You know what - I was really sad to read that but on the other hand I was thankful for you coming here and share this. After all, from what I've heard this far (never actually met the guy) - Jason can't be human . I don't know what were his reasons (I'm sure he has several), but I'm sorry it happened to you. It is not fair to be ignored like that. I truly hope that next time would be different. And I hope you will come here to tell us about it.

I'm sorry that happened to you, Coocoo4Castro. I have never had a bad experience meeting him. Something must have been bothering him because he's usually very engaged with the person he's interacting with. Again, I'm so sorry.

Coco I was there. There is another thread under One stop. You can read my experience. It was a very good one. I do know he was making a conscious effort to make sure people watched Matt Hires. He even left the signing to watch him so others would follow.

I have to wonder if he has realized how his presence at the merch table is affecting Matt's set. Maybe he wanted to make sure he got away from there in time to support Matt and his focus was not on the fans at that time. The other recap sure did relay a different experience. I myself find it awkward to spend any time with him as I know he must get burned out on all that.

After reading other posts, here and elsewhere, I am beginning to think he was distracted because he wanted to get away to watch Matt's set and people would follow if he left the picture/autograph area. I had to leave then so it was my only chance.

I have to agree.....my reading here and there is leading me to believe that Jason is getting a lot more fans than Matt...and that would affect the people staying to watching Matt if Jason leaves. Maybe he will be changing his routine and waiting until the end to go and meet fans.
Gosh it has to be so hard on Jason. I just can't imagine. Like having a baby and things keep changing everyday, and sometimes you're sick and yet you have to figure things out and change it up! God love him and I know He does and so do all of us.
Sounds like Jason needs a rest. Though he looked really well on Fox New York this morning. Here is to Jason feeling better today.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the reason Jason was acting distracted was because of the attention being pulled away from Matt. In Atlanta, when Matt came on, most of the audience was outside lined up for pictures and autographs with Jason. I'm so sorry you had a negative experience with Jason. I've met him several times and once ran into him in a parking lot where he actually had a look of fear in his eyes at first until he realized it was just me and my husband and not a crowd of people. I do think sometimes he is a bit overwhelmed by the demands for autographs and pics. Who wouldn't be? I'm sure next time will be better for you though.

IMHO, there must have been something else going on to distract him. I watched Jason interact with fans for a good hour at Gurnee Mills, and was just amazed at how he engaged each person that came through the long line. Smiling, talking, autograph signing, taking photos, giving hugs.....it was a lovefest. Everything was a little more rushed in Michigan the next night, but they had to drive to Ohio for appearances the next day. But still, very accommodating. Lots of interaction, just no signing. At HOB, even though he was not at the table for a long period of time, he seemed to be enjoying all the interaction. Those have been my experiences. I'll let you know how it goes in Chicago NEXT WEEK!!! Yay, yay, yay!!!
I'm sorry that your experience was not the norm.

coocoo I can assure you I know it was because he is sick and worn out. even in the video's I can see fever and sick all over him and it's breaking my heart. all other things may have played a small part but Jason is very perseptive when well and bends over backwards to make all our encounters great ones. I am so sorry this happened to you but please go again the next chance you get because Jason when well is absolutly the best.

I agree with you, Rosequeen. He not only is warm and friendly under usual circumstances, but he even recognizes people. Amazing when you think about the thousands of people he encounters.
