OOPSS!
I guess I should have came here FIRST, instead of sending PM's to the people who I picked things up for!
The Concert time that started at 9:30pm was the one on Friday night in Seattle and I don't think Matt came on until around 11:30pm or something awful like that...Donna and Sherry will have to tell you about that concert since both of them went to it.
The Portland Concert was, indeed, a matinee...Doors opened at 1pm and show started at 2pm. I picked up another Jason fan who lived 45 minutes SE of me and then when I picked her up we headed NE back to Portland. We arrived at the venue about 12:30pm and parked a couple blocks away. Luckily it wasn't raining and the street we parked on was easy to remember because it was named "MASON"...
Ya know...Jason...Mason...rhymes...yeah! pitiful I know..
Anyway...when we got to the venue there was already a line forming. Right next to the venue was a cute little cafe and sitting at a table right next to the front window was Caitlin Crosby. Obviously, the only reason I recognized her was because of all the video's posted from the past shows! No one else seemed to notice her and I decided not to say anything and just let her eat in peace while she had the chance. I DID, however, go inside the cafe with my friend because she was hungry and wanted to pick up something she could eat while standing in line. I , on the other hand, was on the look out for "you know who" just in case he might be having lunch as well. No Luck...I figured he was either, inside doing sound check or possibly taking a nap in the white van that was parked in the alley on the "other" side of the venue...I was too chicken to go take a peek, however. I figure I had traumatized him bad enough in Ontario!
Finally they let us into the venue. Everyone 21 and over went in one door that led to the downstairs and those with someone under 21 went in another door that took them upstairs to the balcony. (No drinks allowed) I picked out a seat in the middle of the 2nd row right behind Rosequeen, Sherry and Donna.
There were some teens in the balcony that had made a life size Jason cardboard stand-up and RQ was trying to help them get it to the main floor over the railing so it could be set up on the stage to see what Jason's reaction would be...but the staff decided that wasn't a good idea since Caitlin would be on stage first, so the plan was nixed before it could be carried out!
Caitlin came on first (as you all know know the routine by now) and she tuned up and then got started. I really like her voice and her personality and I also really enjoyed Matt and his band. What a sweetheart he is...and he's pretty dang cute as well!
There was a short break in between Caitlin and Jason's sets...They were probably out trying to wake him up because when he did wander in he was looking a bit dazed. When He got up on stage he kept commenting on how it was 2pm! It was actually around 3-3:30pm by the time he got up there, but his mind kept going back in amazement to 2pm when the concert started. I think he was suffering from lack of sleep from the Seattle show which had ended in the wee hours of the morning and then they loaded up and drove straight to Portland after the show, so no wonder they were a bit dazed!
But knowing Jason...he is ALWAYS the professional and his show was flawless as far as I could tell. He seemed so relaxed and sounded incredible in that intimate setting with the amazing acoustics! One of the lady's sitting next to me was with her husband. He had brought her to see Jason for her Valentine's Day gift! I thought that was pretty cool of him and told him so! They both use to live in Texas and they both also went to Texas A & M. In fact the lady said she was back there visiting when Jason did the TAMU concert and she said she was blown away with how he had improved since AI. I think I caught a glimpse of drool on her chin during Jason's set, so I'm sure she would have readily agreed that he was only getting Betta and Betta!
After Jason's performance there was another fairly decent break and we were able to get some pictures etc. in the back of the room with Jason before Matt came out. And then I needed to take a "p" break. They had those unisex bathrooms with one on each side of the bar. I headed to the shortest line on the other side. There was one guy waiting and so we started talking and he made some comment about wondering what the guy inside was doing because he'd been in there for so long...just about then, Stephen Konika (Sp) walks out and the other guy walks in. I happen to catch Stephen's eye and told him how much I had enjoyed his backups. He thanked me and then I asked him when the whole band would be on the road together. He said that they would be starting another tour around March and heading to Malaysia and the Philippines and they were really excited. He said that the sound of the entire band together is really awesome. I told him that I had seen and heard video's from the Texas State Fair and was impressed with the group and really looked forward to seeing them all back together again and on tour in the States.
Then it was my turn to use the facilities...
Jason seemed to have disappeared entirely during Matt's show but promised to be back when it ended to meet more people and sign autographs and meet all the younger fans in the balcony. I had purchased all my goodies earlier so I wouldn't come up short handed this time and had him sign a few things when he came back. Then we all just stood around mingling and visiting and taking pictures for other people and visiting with Mandy and WOWZA!!! Her RING!!!
It was really a very relaxing and fun afternoon and it was still light when we left so it was easy finding our way back to Jason Street...I mean Mason...
Unfortunately, I didn't have the infamous picture taken in Ontario with me. Our printer wasn't working and DH tried to print it at his office but it was too big or something...Oh well...I told him not to worry...
And NO...I didn't want to remind Jason who I was because I was trying to make a slightly BETTER impression THIS TIME! I did get some picture's so I'll try to get them posted tomorrow!
